Avocado Social was set up by Alison Battisby, a social media consultant who wanted to provide practical advice to brands and businesses. The company was founded in 2014 and after marking its first birthday, Alison felt she needed to take her branding and website to the next level. Avocado Social's aim was to maintain a friendly feel about the logo and website, whilst still being professional. Alison approached us to tweak her logo and redesign her website, which she felt wasn't serving her clients in a clear way.
From the discovery session we had with Alison, she mentioned that she was struggling to represent the professionalism of the brand. There were limited fonts and colours, and this was hindering the website.
CONCEPT & DESIGN
Alison was already happy with her logo, so we only tweaked some of the letters to make it appear more considered. After putting together the moodboard, it was clear that Alison wanted to portray the 'homely' feel of the brand by changing some of the colours and fonts in a more retro-inspired way.

First we reshaped the letters to make them flow better – see the red areas which were connected in more natural ways.
Then we added a subtle flat shadow to enhance the retro feel, and freshened up the brand green.
We felt it was really important to create a recognisable and bright colour palette for Avocado Social. The colours we chose represent the friendly, approachable feel to the brand, as well as enhancing the consistency throughout the website.
BRINGING THE BRAND TO LIFE
Alison felt the avocado was key in her branding - an avocado is simple and accessible, just like her brand. We therefore created avocado inspired graphics for her, a theme used throughout the website and social media platforms.
We also designed a series of graphic illustrations, using the colours from the colour palette, for Alison's website. This ensured the theme of the brand was consistent throughout, as well as limiting the number of unnecessary photographs.
We then set out to make a series of templates for social media, using our avocado graphics as a key feature. We designed bespoke quotation graphics to match back nicely with the vintage-inspired font.
Alison's business cards demonstrate the use of the custom avocado graphics, tying in with the digital assets.
We then set to work to create the website.
The website is aesthetically, functionally and in its content a perfect embodiment of the brand we created.
